Climate Change and Use of Social Media

When discussing this in class it seemed that the idea of Global Warming  like the word Feminism has a negative connotation for many people.  So let's do away with *GLOBAL WARNING* (said in the loud car dealership announcer voice) and replace it with Climate Control.  The phrase indicates a notion of individuality towards the situation.  Control. As human beings merely occupying the planet, we have the CONTROL! We have the ability, power, right, and responsibility to maintain this ever giving planet we live on.

All throughout the world there are rallies against oil drilling,  stands against annihilation of natural forests, protests encouraging recycling of renewable resources, pushes for natural fuel alternatives, lock-ins for the wildlife preservation, and movements for public transit usage to reduce pollution.  In countless of cities, from coast to coast, sea to ever shining sea, WE RALLY!!

But... HOW? How are we so divided on the same common goal??  With the ability to instantly connect and talk to someone in a completely different time zone than ourselves, how are we so apart? We should partake of this opportunity that we obviously take for granted.  Think of the effects we have when our nations are in a security crisis.  With the hashtag craze that ensued when newspaper offices were bombed in France, the same can be done for climate control.  We can create a rally that is scheduled to happen on every continent by joining efforts together via social media.   With one rally and with everyone using their social media to capture the event as it's happening can spread from that one event to others at the same even in a different country.

#NoOilSaveTheSoil

#RenewReuse

#TheSolutionIsNoPollution

We could go all day harnessing our inner Dr. Seuss's for catchy rhymes.  The answer is USE SOCIAL MEDIA.  We have this resource, we have the passion, and we have the passion!! Together we can make a global change to preserve our planet and our footprint.  We have a chance, with advances in technology we create problems, but we also have the solution.
